New Year Ushered in at Lake
The Fam celebrated the New Year of Y2K by "getting away from it all" Decameron style, as they spent the weekend on board Half Time, where they enjoyed another Benac beach bonfire, roasted s'mores, and enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show produced by none other than Daddy Bill Himself! We were joined by the lovely Emily Miller, roomie of Sarah and Mary, for the Christmas holidays and enjoyed the sweet addition to the throngs at the Benac manse. Our wishes to all for the coming year and new millennium are for continued health and the pursuit of personal excellence in every aspect of our lives!

Newest Member of "BNC" Initiated in Frantic Rush to Plastic Surgeon
(Made you LOOK!)Our football training swain, John Wilson Benac, has joined the Broken Nose Club, which has so many members among the Benac ranks; and added his own punched-out septum to the pile of mangled Benac schnozzes. In an ungainly forward roll during off-season football training, John brought his knee into his face with such force that he negatively rearranged his physiognomy in an instant! Dr. G. Hunt Neuhror of Dallas is credited with taking swift action to crank it mostly back into place, thereby averting (we hope) yet another nose surgery, as we've already been through it three times with Sarah and Bethany!
Keep Saying Your Prayers!
Our deepest gratitude goes out for the preservation of our own Officer Morphis of Provo, who was in a serious, car-totalling collision with a red light running senior citizen. When he hopped out of his ruined car in his attractive sheriff's uniform, the woman immediately backed down on any plans to decline liability in the accident, and the Morphii will be rewarded accordingly. Thank goodness no one was hurt!

Editor Takes a Break
In a rare solo getaway, the Editor joined her sister Margaret for a snowshoeing jaunt in the Colorado Mountains this past week. Braving blizzard and whiteout forecasts, the hardy band of six backpacking ladies chose a trail at an elevation low enough to avoid the worst of the weather and had a wonderful trek in the quiet woods sheltered by trees on either side of a closed-road trail. Pangs of longing for the old ski days dogged her mind as she stepped out once more into the pristine snowscape. (We have GOT to get Daddy Bill's knee back in shape so he can once again lead ski forays into the mountains! )

Aaron and William Allred wound up on the front cover of this year's SMU Law school brochure. That's what they get for looking so cute during graduation ceremonies a few years ago when Aaron 'walked' with William at his side!
