"Live your life in a manner that you would like your kids to live theirs." Michael Levine
Emma Grace 'Reappears' in Lehi
...And She
Loves
Shampoos!
The original Emma Grace
is the Benac Children's
fourth great grandmother, a
hardy pioneer woman who
crossed the plains with the
Mormon pioneers and
endured great hardships for
her love of the Gospel and
her family. She lies buried
in the Lehi cemetery along
with many others of our
clan. Just in time for the
Taylor Family Reunion, Emma
Grace came to Lehi to charm us
all with her sweetness and
beauty. But this lovely daughter
appeared as the newborn infant
born to our dear Catherine and
Matt Morphis. She was a real
hit at the reunion and we felt the
timing couldn't have been
better!
92 Gather for
Taylor
Reunion
In a record turnout, 92
membersof the Taylor
Family, from whom the
Editor descends,
gathered in Lehi,
Utah for the
Taylor Family
Reunion. Seven of the
nine Benac children
were in attendance and
enjoyed the
opportunity to revel
with numerous
cousins, aunts and
uncles in an
unforgettable
weekend. The Lehi
Free Press ran a
wonderful article
on the family
celebration after a
reporter kept
running into the
Clan at the hotel
where members
of the family
enjoyed a
wonderful
weekend filled
with a melange of
activities ranging
from tours of the
homes lived in by
our Lehi
ancestors, a visit
to the cemetery,
mountain
climbing, spelunking, water
skiing (John got up for the first
time!), and a wild and noisy
night at the annual Lehi
Roundup Rodeo, where the
Family, who filled nearly an
entire section of the bleachers,
got top billing from the
announcer. (It seems the
cowboys staying at
our hotel had a hard
time getting their pre
rodeo sleep with us
running up and down
the halls to visit in
each others' rooms all
night!) Grandparents
Earl and Alice Taylor
quite enjoyed seeing
the long-term results
of their love affair!
John
Scores
Again
After taking what we thought
was an impossibly heavy
workload at school last term, our
John has shown once again just
what a smartie he really is. He
recently found that he passed all
four of his Advanced Placement
tests, which will give him 24
college credits! John scored the
highest possible score in
English, and shone in chemistry,
physics and history as well.
Way to go, John Boy!
The Jane Eyre
Tea Party
Our Allison started a ladies'
book club a few years ago
before her family moved to
Chicago. Upon her triumphant
return to the Dallas area, she
found the book club still going
strong. She recently hosted a
meeting at her lovely new
home in Richardson, where
the book of the month was
Jane Eyre. In keeping with
club tradition, the meal for
the meeting was based on the
theme of the book, so Allie
gave a "Jane Eyre Tea
Party" to which the Editor
was fortunate enough to be
invited. Here we see the
ladies of the club enjoying
their night of intellectual
stimulation and sweet
delectables!
Mary Goes
South
Persistent in her determination
to find a job in a scientific field,
our Mary has decided to accept
a position with the American
Institute of Biological Sciences.
But NOT in New York City!
Mary followed a job lead from
her dear friend Molly Lorton,
with whom she spent a summer
at the Stanford U. Hopkins
Marine Station in Monterey,
CA. It led to her moving from
NYC , with plenty of happy
memories, down to the DC area,
where our dear Aunt Nancy was
kind enough to provide
lodging until Mary gets
herself settled in her
new digs. We applaud
you for your bravery,
Mar Mar!
Recognition
for
Benac.com
It seems that one of
Mary's roommates in
her temporary digs in
New York is a reporter
for SmartMoney
Magazine, the
companion to the Wall
Street Journal. The reporter, Ms.
Jennifer Keeney, is doing an
article on computer and
peripheral use for the September
issue of SmartMoney that will
include references to our humble
website.. In an interview with the
Editor, who happily shared the
secrets of computing from one's
bathroom (in very casual
clothing indeed) it became
apparent that this article could
provide us with our own Fifteen
Minutes of Fame. Watch for that
September issue, readers!
Beth Gets the
Boot
After about 9 years of
constantly falling down at
unpredictable times, our
Bethany finally underwent ankle
surgery to correct a torn
ligament suffered in a
trampoline accident.. She was
fitted with a walking boot for six
weeks to enable healing
Looking forward to her release
from the constricting apparatus
next week, she is slowly
progressing in her
rehabilitation.We all look
forward to seeing her join the
world of the Uprightly Walking.
Good luck, Beth!
